International parents – the greater Reykjavík area

Parents of all nationalities, with young children of ages 0-6 years, meet once a week at the Kópavogur branch of the Red Cross. The aim is to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst parents, giving them the opportunity to meet others, learn from one another and share experience. Short informative sessions are offered every other week. Toys are provided for the children to play with and refreshments for the parents. Participation is free and everyone is welcome, whether of foreign or Icelandic origin. No knowledge of Icelandic is required.  .

Parent mornings - east of Iceland

The Héraðs- og Borgarfjörður branch of the Red Cross located in Egilstaðir, in cooperation with the Culture Centre for Young People in East Iceland (vegaHúsið), has organized “parent mornings” for mothers and fathers of young children who live in the Egilstaðir area.

Open house for Parents in Borgarnes

Information sessions are organized for parents about different topics concerning their children such as sessions on the Icelandic school system, sports and recreational activities in the area.  All immigrant parents are welcome. These sessions are a great opportunity for parents to meet and share their ideas and concerns.
