Information for guests in a quarantine facility

Dear Guest

In order for us to make your stay as comfortable as possible, we kindly ask you to familiarize yourself with the following information and instructions.

Guests in quarantine

Individuals in quarantine may have been exposed to infection, although they may not be ill or showing any symptoms. Contact with others should therefore be limited and guests should stay in their rooms at all times.

If at any time it becomes necessary to leave the room (for a PCR test, doctor's appointment, or in case of emergency) it is important to wash and disinfect your hands when leaving and returning to your room and touch as few surface areas as possible. It is important to keep at least 2 meters / 6 ft distance from other people. All guests are required to wear facemasks when outside of their room as well as when they are in contact with staff members. Please do not leave your room without contacting the front desk prior to leaving.

It is important to closely monitor influenza-like symptoms such as cough, fever, bone ache, muscle ache, and fatigue. If you experience these symptoms, even though they are mild, it is important to notify the facility supervisor. The facility supervisor will then arrange a Covid-19 PCR test as soon as possible.

Room cleaning

Guests take care of in-room cleaning themselves. If it becomes necessary to change bed linen please contact the front desk. Used bed linen should be put in clear plastic bags which staff members will provide you at your request.

  • Closed bags with dirty bed linen should be placed in front of the door for collection between 10:30 and 11:00 daily (10:30 am and 11 am).
  • Full rubbish bags should be tightly closed and placed in front of the door for collection between 10:30 and 11:00 (10:30 am and 11 am) daily. Employees will take care of removing the bags.

If there is anything that you need, such as pain killers, toilet paper, or sanitary equipment, please contact the reception by pressing the reception button on your in-room telephone.

Food and refreshments

Employees will deliver food to the door and knock on the door. All meals are served in a disposable food container. After each meal, guests are asked to place their containers outside of their doors. Food is served at the following time:

 

  • Breakfast is served between 08:00 and 09:30
  • Lunch is served between 11:30 and 13:00
  • Dinner is served between 18:00 and 19:30

PCR test 5 days after arrival in Iceland

After a 5 day quarantine, you will have your second PCR test in Iceland. It will be done in a conference room on the second floor. You will receive a text message with an invitation and a bar code for the test but please ignore the time slot given to you in the message. Our staff members will contact you on day 4 of your stay to give you a time slot and instructions regarding your PCR test. After the test, the results will be provided to you via text message within approximately 4-6 hours.

Please note!

  • Wash your hands before leaving your room and wear a facemask.
  • If you have any flu-like symptoms, do not go to the second floor PCR test! We will arrange for the PCR test to be done in your room.
  • If your PCR test is negative you are free to leave the hotel. Please contact the reception before leaving your room as new guests may be arriving at the same time.
  • If your PCR test is positive, please contact the reception since you will be required to isolate. 

Facility supervisor

If you have any complaints or concerns during your stay, please press the reception button on your in-room telephone to be connected to the reception. The supervisor on duty will contact you shortly to discuss your concerns. Dietary requirements and other requests can also be accommodated by the reception.

Outdoor activities

Rules regarding outdoor activities are as follows:

  • At quarantine hotels, wherever possible due to disease control and preventive measures, outdoor activities will be made available. Such activities are subject to other traffic at the hotel as well as other situations that may upset the disease control and preventive measures.
  • Guests must make a request for outdoor activities to the house staff by contacting reception. The house staff will contact guests when outdoor activities are possible.
  • This measure is taken to ensure disease control and prevention as well as the guests’ safety.

Deliveries

Guests can have food and necessities sent to their rooms. The hotel staff receives deliveries at reception and has them brought to the guests’ rooms. Guests are not allowed to send clothing and gear out of their rooms except in exceptional cases in consultation with the staff.

The following phone numbers are open around the clock but guests are encouraged to contact staff by phone if questions arise.

  • Please use the wireless network "FHR-Guestnet". It is open and without a password.

A new quarantine location 

If an arriving passenger has an acceptable place to stay whilst in quarantine he/she is able to stay there instead of going into the quarantine hotel. An acceptable place to quarantine is a place where the individual has private hygiene facilities (toilet), no shared facilities such as kitchen and no other persons that are not in quarantine are at the same place. It is necessary to stay at the same place during quarantine. 

In order to finish quarantine at a different location, the following must be confirmed:

  • I will quarantine alone during my time of quarantine or others who stay at the same location will also quarantine themselves or at least adhere to the rules of home-based quarantine.
  • that the toilet facilities at my quarantine location are not shared with others who are not also in quarantine.
  • that I will not leave my place of quarantine unless necessary, e.g. to seek necessary health care services. I am however allowed to go for walks in the vicinity of the quarantine location but have to stay at least 2 meters away from other people.
  • I am not allowed to go for a drive unless necessary, e.g. to seek health care services necessary or for COVID-19 screening.
  • I‘m not allowed to welcome guests at my quarantine location.
  • I‘m not allowed to stay in shared spaces in apartment buildings, hotels and other similar locations, i.e. stairwells, laundry rooms, or shared gardens/outdoor areas except on the way in and out.
  • I will comply with the Chief Epidemiologist‘s instructions on home-based quarantine [attachment]
